Financial Revolution in Balochistan: Old Treasury System Abolished, All Payments Fully Digitalized

Quetta: In a landmark move towards transparency and anti-corruption reforms, the **Government of Balochistan** has completely **abolished the traditional treasury system**, marking a major step toward **full financial digitalization** across the province.

The decision was finalized during a high-level meeting chaired by **Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti**, where **Finance Secretary Imran Zarkoon** briefed participants on the successful implementation of the new digital system.

Under this reform, the **Directorate of Treasury** has been **dissolved**, and its **over 250 employees** have been transferred to the **Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD)**. According to officials, the restructuring is expected to **save the provincial government around Rs. 200 million annually**.

Chief Minister **Sarfraz Bugti** described the move as a **revolutionary step toward ending corruption and ensuring efficiency** in financial management. “Every rupee of public tax is a trust of the nation,” he said. “The complete digitalization of the treasury system will promote transparency, accountability, and timely payments.”

He emphasized that **online financial transactions** will eliminate unnecessary delays and human interference, leading to **more effective utilization of provincial resources**.

This decision follows the recent downsizing of **additional staff at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat**, as part of Balochistan’s broader **administrative and structural reforms** initiative.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chief Minister praised **Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani** and **Finance Secretary Imran Zarkoon** for their efforts in implementing digital transformation and advancing financial transparency in the province.
