Complaint Filed with Punjab Bar Council Seeking Cancellation of Lawyer Rimsha Iqbal’s License

LAHORE: A formal complaint has been filed with the Punjab Bar Council seeking disciplinary action against advocate Rimsha Iqbal, the sister of actress Momina Iqbal, over alleged violations of professional rules and legal ethics.
According to the complaint submitted to the Chairman of the Punjab Bar Council’s Disciplinary Committee, Rimsha Iqbal is accused of maintaining an active legal practicing license while simultaneously holding a full-time salaried position with an Australian company, an act alleged to be in violation of legal profession regulations.
The complaint was filed by High Court lawyer Chaudhry Asif Wali and was submitted to the Punjab Bar Council on June 8, 2026. The application was registered under Diary No. 3378.
According to the complaint, documentary evidence suggests that Rimsha Iqbal worked as a full-time Office Manager for an Australian company from March 2023 to April 2026. During this period, it is alleged that she neither informed the Punjab Bar Council of her employment nor sought suspension of her legal license as required under the applicable rules.

The complainant further claims that records related to her employment and salary transfers into her bank account are available and constitute prima facie evidence of a deliberate violation of professional regulations.
The application states that under the Punjab Legal Practitioners and Bar Council Rules 2023 and the relevant code of conduct, an enrolled advocate cannot engage in business, trade, service, or full-time employment without informing the Punjab Bar Council and obtaining suspension of their practicing license. The rules are intended to preserve the independence, integrity, and discipline of the legal profession.
In his petition, Chaudhry Asif Wali requested the Punjab Bar Council to take immediate notice of the matter, initiate disciplinary proceedings, and conduct a formal inquiry. He further urged the council to impose an appropriate penalty under the law if the allegations are proven, including suspension or permanent cancellation of the advocate’s license.
The allegations contained in the complaint have been submitted for consideration by the Punjab Bar Council, and no disciplinary findings have yet been announced.
