Case Against Mahmood Khan Achakzai Condemned as Attack on Freedom of Expression, Says Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan

Quetta (Khabar Desk) — Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan spokesperson Hussain Ahmad Yousafzai has strongly condemned the registration of a case against party chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai, terming it a direct attack on freedom of expression and democratic values.
In a statement, he said that filing a case against Achakzai for expressing facts during a public gathering in Chaman is “regrettable, condemnable, and an assault on constitutional rights.”
Yousafzai stated that Mahmood Khan Achakzai raised genuine public concerns and highlighted the issues faced by the people of his region based on facts and ground realities. He alleged that certain elements could not tolerate criticism of state policies by a public representative and, as a result, resorted to what he described as a politically motivated and baseless case.
He added that such actions amount to an attempt to criminalize truth-telling and punish public representation, which is unacceptable in any democratic society. He warned that the use of state power to intimidate political opponents and suppress dissent only deepens the gap between institutions and the public.
The spokesperson further said that the case reflects an “authoritarian and retaliatory mindset” and can increase political tensions and public unrest. He emphasized that raising public issues and criticizing policies should not be treated as a crime.
He demanded the immediate withdrawal of the case against Mahmood Khan Achakzai, urging authorities to abandon the practice of criminalizing political differences. He stressed that dialogue, tolerance, and supremacy of the constitution are the only ways to ensure national unity, political stability, and public trust.
