Musalla Jibreel: The Sacred Site Where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) First Prayed with Angel Jibreel

Makkah: Musalla Jibreel is regarded as one of the most significant historical and spiritual sites within the precincts of the Holy Kaaba, commemorating the place where Angel Jibreel (Gabriel) is believed to have led Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in prayer.
According to narrations reported by Sunan Abi Dawud, Jami’ at-Tirmidhi, and Sunan an-Nasa’i from Abdullah ibn Abbas, the Prophet (PBUH) said that Angel Jibreel led him in prayer twice near the door of the Kaaba.
The narration explains that on the first day, Jibreel led the five daily prayers at their earliest prescribed times. On the second day, he led the same prayers at their latest permissible times and then informed the Prophet (PBUH) that these were the prayer times observed by the prophets before him, and that the valid time for each prayer lies between those two limits.
The location where Angel Jibreel is believed to have stood later became known as Musalla Jibreel. It is marked by distinctive stones that differ from the surrounding flooring of the Kaaba area.
Historians and Islamic scholars note that these stones have been preserved through various renovations of the Grand Mosque, including during the Saudi era, not merely for architectural purposes but to commemorate the site associated with this important event in Islamic tradition.
For many visitors and pilgrims, Musalla Jibreel serves as a reminder of the origins of the prescribed prayer times and the spiritual connection between the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the angel entrusted with delivering divine revelation.
