Trump Announces Breakthrough With Iran, Says Strait of Hormuz Blockade Ending

Islamabad: US President Donald Trump has announced a major breakthrough with Iran regarding the ongoing tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, saying the blockade in the strategic waterway is being lifted.
In a statement posted on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the Iranian naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz was coming to an end and that ships stranded in the area, along with their crews, should prepare to return home.
He said Iran had agreed to ensure the uninterrupted flow of maritime traffic through the Strait and would not impose any tolls or additional charges on vessels passing through the route.
Trump further claimed that several naval mines laid in the Strait of Hormuz had already been destroyed by US minesweepers, while the remaining mines would be removed or destroyed by Iran immediately.
Praising the US Navy’s operations in the region, Trump described the mission as “great” and said the measures were necessary to safeguard global trade and energy supplies.
The US president also made a major claim regarding Iran’s nuclear program, stating that enriched uranium stored deep beneath mountains had been buried during a US B-2 bomber strike nearly 11 months ago.
According to Trump, the United States, China, Iran, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) would cooperate to recover and completely destroy the nuclear material.
He added that no financial transactions with Iran would take place until further notice, though agreements had been reached on several less significant matters.
Trump said he would chair a high-level meeting in the White House Situation Room to make a final decision on the issue.
The US president reiterated that Iran must agree never to obtain nuclear weapons or an atomic bomb.
