US Media Credits Field Marshal Asim Munir for Key Role in Iran-US Peace Efforts

Washington/Islamabad: American newspaper The Washington Times has reported that Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir played a crucial role in efforts to ease tensions between the United States and Iran.
According to the report, Field Marshal Asim Munir emerged as one of the most significant mediators in the ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran aimed at ending the conflict on multiple fronts.
The newspaper stated that the Pakistani military chief held continuous meetings with American and Iranian leaders in order to help finalize the draft peace agreement between the two countries.
Meanwhile, The New York Times described Field Marshal Asim Munir’s recent visit to Iran as “high-level diplomacy” and said Pakistan’s military leadership played a key role in achieving progress toward a possible understanding between Iran and the United States.
The developments come as an announcement regarding a final peace agreement between Washington and Tehran is expected by Sunday afternoon.
Earlier, The Washington Times, citing sources, reported that negotiators had agreed on the draft deal on Saturday morning and that an official announcement could be made within 24 hours.
