Over 1.5 Million Pilgrims Arrive in Saudi Arabia for Hajj

Authorities in Saudi Arabia have announced that the number of international pilgrims arriving for Hajj has reached 1.518 million.

During a press conference in Mecca, commanders of the Hajj security forces stated that around 30 percent of pilgrims entered the Kingdom through the Makkah Route Initiative, which is designed to simplify immigration and travel procedures for pilgrims from selected countries.

Officials added that modern technology is being widely used to facilitate transportation, crowd management, and overall services for the millions of worshippers arriving for Hajj.

Meanwhile, on the first Friday of Dhul Hijjah, millions of worshippers offered Friday prayers at Masjid al-Haram.

During the sermon, Imam of the Grand Mosque Maher Al-Muaiqly highlighted the spiritual significance and virtues of the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, considered among the holiest days in the Islamic calendar.
