Pakistan Condemns Drone Attack on Abu Dhabi Nuclear Plant as Serious Violation of International Law

Pakistan has strongly condemned a reported drone attack on the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in United Arab Emirates, terming it a serious violation of international law.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office spokesperson, Pakistan expressed strong solidarity with the government and people of the UAE, calling the deliberate targeting of nuclear installations a grave breach of international norms.
The statement emphasized that nuclear facilities must not be targeted under any circumstances, warning that such irresponsible actions could have catastrophic consequences for global peace and the environment. It further noted that the sanctity of civilian nuclear infrastructure is a widely accepted international principle.
Pakistan urged all parties to exercise restraint, de-escalate tensions, and avoid further escalation. It also reiterated that diplomacy and dialogue remain the only viable path toward sustainable peace and stability in the region.
Meanwhile, UAE authorities stated that a drone strike caused a fire in an electric generator located outside the internal security perimeter of the Barakah plant in the Al Dhafra region.
Officials confirmed that no casualties were reported and there was no impact on radiation safety standards. They added that the incident did not affect the plant’s critical systems, and all units continue to operate normally.
