NDMA Issues Alert as Rain, Storms and Hail Expected Across Pakistan from May 18 to 23

Islamabad: The National Disaster Management Authority National Disaster Management Authority has issued an important weather alert forecasting rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and hailstorms across various parts of the country between May 18 and May 23.
According to the advisory, the current weather pattern aligns with the earlier seasonal outlook issued in the April–June assessment report released a few months ago.
The forecast predicts that several districts of Punjab, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sialkot, Kasur, and Multan, may experience rain, strong winds, and hail between May 19 and May 22. Rainfall is also expected in and around Islamabad.
In Balochistan, weather activity including strong winds and rain is expected in several areas from May 19 to May 22. Regions such as Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Chaman, and Khuzdar may be affected, while other parts of the province are likely to experience rising temperatures.
In Sindh, hot and dry weather conditions are expected to persist, with a further increase in temperature forecast across the province.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms are likely in areas including Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Bannu, and Landikotal.
Similarly, in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, thunderstorms accompanied by rain and hail are expected in areas including Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Astore, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Bagh, and Kotli.
The NDMA has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions, stay away from weak structures and electricity poles, and strictly follow local administration instructions and weather advisories.
