Karachi Police Foil Fake Currency Network Ahead of Eid al-Adha

Police in Karachi have foiled a major fake currency operation ahead of Eid al-Adha, preventing what officials say could have caused significant financial disruption in local markets.
According to police sources, the Alfalah Investigation Wing acted on a tip-off and uncovered a well-organized network allegedly preparing to circulate counterfeit currency across the city during the Eid shopping rush.
Three suspects were arrested during the operation. Officials said the group was selling fake currency at extremely low prices to deceive people, including offering Rs 5,000 counterfeit notes for Rs 1,000.
Police further revealed that around Rs 200,000 worth of fake currency was recovered from the suspects. The counterfeit notes were reportedly produced with such precision that they were difficult to identify with the naked eye.
Investigators also found that the suspects planned to inject a large amount of fake currency into the market, offering Rs 100,000 in counterfeit notes for just Rs 30,000.
Authorities said further interrogation is underway and more information is expected. Police also confirmed that two of the arrested individuals have prior criminal records. The SP Alfalah said operations against fake currency networks will now be intensified across the city.
