Quetta: Mir Sarfraz Bugti has announced that the provincial government has prepared a comprehensive 10-year development plan aimed at ensuring sustainable growth and phased reforms across multiple sectors in Balochistan.

The announcement came during a meeting between the chief minister and a delegation of the Asian Development Bank led by its Pakistan Country Director Xiaohong Emma Fan in Quetta.

During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on development projects, investment opportunities, and enhancing cooperation in key sectors including water resources, agriculture, minerals and mines, education, health, information technology, skills development, and employment generation.

The ADB delegation expressed strong interest in providing long-term investment and financial assistance for water and agricultural development projects in Balochistan, including the Kachhi Canal project. Both parties also agreed to adopt a joint strategy for practical initiatives related to education, healthcare, IT, vocational training, and youth employment.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Bugti said the Balochistan government welcomes global and national development partners and remains committed to promoting investment and development activities in viable and profitable sectors with the cooperation of the ADB.

He acknowledged that limited development resources and addressing public needs remain major challenges, but said the government is focusing on long-term, people-friendly projects through proper prioritization.

Bugti said the province is being transformed into a safe, peaceful, and attractive destination for investors, adding that the government will provide all possible facilities and effective security to investors.

He further stated that the provincial government possesses the capacity to protect and implement mega development projects effectively and is utilizing all available resources to create new economic opportunities.

Highlighting reforms in the education sector, the chief minister said 3,200 previously closed schools have been reopened, while 2,100 new community-based schools have been established across the province. He added that the government is now focusing on quality education, modern educational facilities, and human resource development to prepare youth for modern-day challenges.

Bugti also emphasized that reforms aimed at promoting good governance, transparency, and merit are continuing steadily, while the government is seriously pursuing public welfare goals through effective policymaking.
