Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni Condemns Fake AI-Generated Explicit Images Circulating Online

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has expressed concern over the circulation of fake explicit images created using artificial intelligence, calling for stronger awareness and caution regarding digital misinformation.
According to a report by Reuters, manipulated AI-generated images of the Italian leader have been widely shared online, sparking controversy and concern in political circles.
Meloni warned that such fabricated content can mislead the public and particularly harm individuals who lack the ability to defend themselves against false narratives.
She said that several of these images were allegedly produced and circulated in a way that made them appear real, with some political opponents reportedly attempting to present them as authentic.
“This issue goes beyond me personally. Deepfakes are a dangerous weapon because they can be used to deceive, manipulate, and harm others,” Meloni stated. “I can defend myself, but many others cannot.”
The Prime Minister urged the public to verify the authenticity of online content before believing or sharing it, emphasizing the importance of digital responsibility. “The rule must always be: verify before sharing,” she added.
