Reem Shaikh Says She Cannot Marry a Non-Muslim Due to Strong Religious Beliefs

Mumbai: Indian actress Reem Shaikh has stated that she cannot marry a non-Muslim, citing her strong religious beliefs and practices.
According to Indian media, the actress shared her views on interfaith relationships during a recent interview, where she was asked whether falling in love with someone from another religion could complicate matters.
Responding candidly, Reem said she would not be able to pursue such a relationship because she considers herself deeply religious. She explained that she offers five daily prayers and has also started observing fasts, adding that these commitments make it unlikely for her to marry someone from a different faith.
Speaking about love, she revealed that her perspective has been shaped by personal experiences, including witnessing divorce within her family and seeing relationships around her fall apart. She said these experiences have given her reasons to question belief in love.
However, she also emphasized that love is essential for building a connection with God and maintaining relationships with people. Without love, she noted, it becomes difficult to form meaningful bonds.
It is worth mentioning that Reem Shaikh comes from a mixed-faith family, with her mother being Hindu and her father Muslim.
