US Defense Costs in Iran Conflict Reportedly Reach $25 Billion, Pentagon Briefs Congress

According to details presented during a briefing to the U.S. Armed Services Committee, the Pentagon’s financial officer stated that the United States has spent approximately $25 billion so far on its conflict with Iran.
U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth informed the committee that most of the expenditure has been directed toward weapons systems, while a portion has been used for maintenance and replacement of military equipment.
The rising cost of the conflict is drawing attention as the Trump administration has reportedly requested a $1.5 trillion defense budget for the year 2027. In defense of the proposal, Hegseth said the administration aims to transition the U.S. defense industrial system toward a “wartime footing.”
During the same briefing, the committee was also told that 13 U.S. military personnel have been killed so far in the conflict with Iran.
The developments highlight growing financial and strategic pressures linked to the ongoing military engagement.
