Trump Responds to Shooting Incident at White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Says Attack Not Linked to Iran Conflict

Donald Trump has responded to the reported shooting incident that occurred during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington, D.C., stating that the suspected attacker attempted the assault from around 15 yards away and that he believes the incident is not connected to any Iran-related conflict.

The incident took place on Saturday night during a high-profile press dinner attended by the president and other officials. According to reports, the attacker was apprehended while security personnel swiftly responded to the situation. Both the U.S. president and other attendees remained safe.

During a press briefing, Trump said the suspect was heavily armed and that the United States Secret Service acted quickly and bravely to control the situation. He added that one officer was injured but was protected by a bulletproof vest.

Trump described the moment as “extremely surprising,” recalling loud sounds during the incident and saying First Lady Melania Trump immediately reacted to the situation. He further stated that the attacker was from California and praised security forces for potentially saving thousands of lives through their rapid response.

He also emphasized the need to reduce divisions and confirmed that despite the incident, planned public events would continue, including a larger ceremony expected within the next 30 days.
