Trump Says Delegation Heading to Islamabad for Talks, Signals Possible Iran Deal Soon

Islamabad: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that his representatives are traveling to Islamabad for negotiations, stating they will arrive by tomorrow evening to engage in talks.

In a statement shared on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump accused Iran of violating a ceasefire by opening fire in the Strait of Hormuz. He also criticized Tehran’s reported announcement to close the vital shipping route, calling it “strange,” and claiming that U.S. measures had already effectively restricted it.

Trump said the United States is offering Iran a “good deal” and expressed hope that Tehran would accept it. However, he issued a strong warning, stating that failure to reach an agreement could lead to severe consequences, including potential strikes on Iran’s infrastructure such as power plants and bridges.

The U.S. president further claimed that closing the Strait of Hormuz is ultimately harming Iran more than the United States, alleging that Tehran is losing around $500 million daily, while Washington faces no significant losses.

Earlier, in a telephone interview with the news outlet Axios, Trump hinted at significant progress in ongoing negotiations with Iran. He said a deal could be finalized within one or two days, with negotiators from both sides likely to meet later this week to shape a final agreement.

According to Trump, a potential agreement would help ease tensions in the Middle East and contribute to ensuring the security of Israel.

Commenting on the situation in Lebanon, Trump said he wants Israeli attacks to stop immediately as part of a ceasefire arrangement. He stressed that Israel must halt its operations, adding that continued destruction of buildings is unacceptable and would not be supported by the United States.

Analysts suggest that a successful agreement between the United States and Iran could mark a major step toward peace in the Middle East. However, they emphasize that all parties will need to demonstrate seriousness and restraint for any deal to succeed.
