Trump Says US Does Not Want “Toll Tax” in Strait of Hormuz

Islamabad: Former US President Donald Trump has said that the United States does not want any “toll tax” in the Strait of Hormuz, while stressing ongoing diplomatic engagements with Iran.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said that talks with Iran are currently underway. He reiterated that Iran must not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons.
He further claimed that the US intends to seize Iran’s highly enriched uranium stockpiles as part of its broader security concerns.
Trump also stated that the US Navy is performing effectively and suggested that no ships are currently able to reach Iran. He added that through naval operations, the US is effectively maintaining control over the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the world’s most critical maritime chokepoints, through which a significant portion of global oil shipments pass.
