16 Food Department Warehouses in Gwadar Reportedly Used by Drug Addicts

Quetta:** It has been revealed during a session of the Balochistan Assembly that 16 out of 17 warehouses owned by the Food Department in Gwadar district are in a dilapidated condition and allegedly being used by drug addicts.
The disclosure came in response to a question raised by Member of the Provincial Assembly, Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman. Officials informed the house that the district has a total of 17 food department warehouses and 18 موظفین.
According to the وزیر خوراک بلوچستان، Noor Muhammad Dummar, one of the warehouses is currently being used by the Balochistan Constabulary, while the remaining 16 are in poor condition.
Maulana Hidayat ur Rehman stated that these abandoned structures are being occupied by drug addicts, raising serious concerns about law and order and public safety in the area. He proposed that the unused warehouses should be converted into schools and hospitals to benefit the local population.
Responding to the suggestion, Minister Noor Muhammad Dummar said that since the Food Department is no longer involved in wheat procurement, the warehouses are no longer required, and the proposal to repurpose them could be considered.
The issue has highlighted both the deteriorating state of public infrastructure in Gwadar and the need for effective utilization of government properties.
