Dengue Cases Surge in Kech; NP Leader Warns of Wider Outbreak

Quetta:** National Party central leader and Deputy Parliamentary Leader in the Balochistan Assembly, Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch, has expressed serious concern over the rapid rise in dengue cases in Kech district, warning that the outbreak could spread across the entire Makran division if immediate action is not taken.

In a statement, he said the increasing number of dengue cases poses a serious threat to the local population and raises questions over the performance of the provincial government and health department. He criticized authorities for failing to implement timely preventive measures and initiate anti-dengue spray campaigns at an early stage.

Baloch termed dengue a dangerous and potentially fatal disease, stressing that urgent and coordinated steps are essential to control its spread.

He demanded the فوری imposition of a dengue emergency across Kech and other districts of Makran, along with the launch of widespread fumigation campaigns, improved drainage systems, and the elimination of stagnant water in affected areas.

Highlighting the lack of public awareness, he said that insufficient knowledge about preventive measures is a major factor contributing to the spread of the disease. He urged the government to launch an effective awareness campaign in collaboration with media, local representatives, and civil society.

He further pointed out that healthcare facilities in remote areas of Makran are already inadequate, with shortages of essential medicines, testing facilities, and trained staff, causing serious difficulties for patients.

Calling for immediate intervention, Baloch urged the government to deploy medical teams to affected areas, establish temporary medical camps, and allocate dedicated dengue wards in public hospitals. He also stressed the need for a comprehensive and coordinated strategy involving all relevant institutions to effectively control the outbreak and protect the public from the disease.
