Quetta Press Club Hails CM’s Housing Scheme as a Historic Milestone for Journalists
Quetta: The Quetta Press Club, led by President **Irfan Saeed**, General Secretary **Ayub Tareen**, and other office bearers, along with the Executive Committee members, expressed their gratitude to **Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti** for laying the foundation of the journalists’ housing scheme, calling it a historic moment in the province’s journalistic history.
The statement highlighted that after more than three decades of struggle by the Quetta Press Club and the **Balochistan Union of Journalists**, the Chief Minister’s personal interest and efforts have turned this long-awaited dream into reality.
The press club officials praised CM Bugti for addressing journalists’ grievances and providing essential facilities, describing his role as both encouraging and highly commendable. They noted that the recent announcement of the housing scheme — offering **free flats for low-paid journalists within a year** and **half-priced flats for others** — fulfills a promise made by the Chief Minister just **four months ago**, achieving the target in a remarkably short time.
The statement further expressed hope that the **Balochistan Chief Minister** would continue supporting journalists in resolving their ongoing issues and safeguarding press freedom in the province.
