Balochistan Assembly Approves New District in Pishin, Calls for Revival of Pasni Fish Harbour

Quetta: The Balochistan Assembly, in a session chaired by Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, unanimously passed several important resolutions focusing on public welfare, administrative reforms, and economic revival.

During the session, Member of Provincial Assembly Syed Zafar Ali Agha presented a resolution proposing the creation of a new district by merging three tehsils of Pishin—Hurmzai, Karbala, and Saranan. He informed the house that the combined population of these areas is around 400,000 and that the region, comprising three municipal committees, qualifies for district status to improve administrative efficiency. The assembly unanimously approved the proposal.

Another resolution was tabled by Hidayat ur Rehman Baloch, who expressed concern over the prolonged inactivity of Pasni Fish Harbour. He noted that the harbour was once the backbone of the local economy but has fallen into decline due to years of neglect, leaving thousands of fishermen unemployed. The assembly recommended that the provincial government take immediate steps to restore and operationalize the harbour.

Meanwhile, Provincial Interior Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove presented a congratulatory resolution acknowledging Pakistan’s positive diplomatic role in easing tensions between Iran and the United States. The resolution paid tribute to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their leadership.

Speaking during the session, MPA Farah Azeem Shah suggested that Pakistan’s leadership deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for its role in global mediation efforts. Other members, including Khair Jan Baloch, Ali Madad Jatak, Ashok Kumar, Shahida Rauf, Hadia Nawaz, and Asim Kurd Gailani, also expressed their views, praising Pakistan’s balanced foreign policy and its growing international recognition.

After completing the agenda and passing all resolutions, the speaker adjourned the session until Monday, April 13, at 3:00 PM.
