Peshawar High Court Declares Use of Govt Resources in Political Rallies Illegal

Peshawar: The Peshawar High Court has declared the use of government employees, resources, and machinery for political gatherings illegal in a detailed 28-page judgment.

The verdict was issued by a bench headed by Justice Sahibzada Asadullah in a case concerning the alleged use of state resources by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government during political rallies.

The court ruled that the chief minister is the constitutional custodian of public resources, which must only be used for public welfare. It emphasized that the use of government machinery must strictly follow constitutional procedures, and any تجاوز of authority constitutes a legal and ethical violation.

In its ruling, the court directed the Chief Secretary to ensure that all departments operate within the framework of the Constitution and law, and that no government employee or resource is used for political purposes.

The court also instructed the Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to ensure that police are not used for any political activities.
