Govt Dismisses “False Propaganda” Over PM Shehbaz’s Tweet on Iran-US Ceasefire

Islamabad: A government spokesperson has rejected what he described as “false and baseless propaganda” surrounding a tweet by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the Iran-US ceasefire.
According to official sources, certain media elements misinterpreted the tweet, prompting clarification from government officials. A senior bureaucrat explained that the prime minister’s Twitter account is managed by a team that drafts and posts messages based on varying instructions.
He noted that different drafts are circulated with labels such as “for the perusal of PM Pakistan” or “for the attention of the Prime Minister,” and in this instance, a draft was mistakenly posted. The error was identified almost immediately and corrected within a minute. Officials emphasized that such technical mistakes can occur globally and have been seen in Pakistan in the past as well.
The official further stated that following the tweet, Iranian Foreign Minister responded positively and expressed willingness toward a ceasefire.
He added that the diplomatic efforts led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Syed Asim Munir played a significant role in bringing parties to the negotiating table, earning appreciation from countries including the United States, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and China.
