Shaan Shahid Promises Surprises in ‘Psycho’, Reflects on Industry and Bollywood Offers

Lahore: Veteran Pakistani actor Shahn Shahid has expressed delight over the success of his recent film ‘Bulha’ and revealed that actress Meera will surprise audiences in his upcoming film ‘Psycho’. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Jang Digital, Shahid commented on the current state of the film industry, his career, and cross-border recognition.
He said the film industry has become increasingly hostile, with people often disliking one another. “It is disheartening when senior figures make trivial comments about me,” he added. Shahid also reflected on the success of Geo Films’ ‘Khuda Ke Liye’, which earned recognition even in Bollywood, leading to offers from Indian filmmakers, which he politely declined, saying, “I feel my priority is to entertain my own people in Pakistan.”
Shahid praised the performances of Naima Butt and Mona Lisa in ‘Bulha’ and highlighted that the film, releasing on Eid-ul-Fitr, is quickly winning audience appreciation. He shared plans to visit Karachi soon to meet friends, cinema owners, and fans.
On working across different mediums, Shahid remarked that television is a respectable platform, but acting in TV is like playing a test cricket match, while films are like a T20 match requiring a different approach. He noted that many TV actors struggle to adapt their style when transitioning to film.
Shahid also reflected on his personal life, saying acting is in his nature and that he has created a creative environment at home for his four daughters, three of whom were born at the same time. They are all interested in showbiz while continuing their education.
Regarding the revival of Pakistan’s film industry, Shahid stressed that filmmakers from Karachi and Lahore must collaborate. He added that stars like Fahad Mustafa and Humayun Saeed are part of the effort to strengthen the industry.
