Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Announces Free Public Transport and Diesel Subsidy for Farmers Amid Inflation Surge

Lahore: In response to the skyrocketing petroleum prices and rising inflation, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a historic relief package for the people and farmers of the province. Under this revolutionary initiative, all government-operated public transport—including the Orange Line Train, Metro Bus Service, Speedo Buses, and Green Electric Buses—will now be completely free of charge, with no tickets required for passengers.
Alongside this major travel relief, the Punjab government will provide farmers with a subsidy of PKR 100 per liter of diesel, funded directly from the provincial budget. This measure aims to ease the financial burden of rising fuel prices on farmers and reduce agricultural production costs.
Maryam Nawaz stated that these steps are designed to directly support the economically vulnerable, including the poor, laborers, and farming communities, by providing immediate financial relief against the impact of soaring petroleum prices.
