UK Announces Major Relief Package: Energy Bills Cut, Employees to Receive Up to £1,500 Extra

United Kingdom: In response to rising inflation triggered by the Iran conflict, the UK Prime Minister has unveiled a broad relief package to support citizens.
The initiative, effective immediately, includes salary increases, reductions in electricity bills, and financial aid programs for those in need.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer emphasized the importance of reopening the Strait of Hormuz, noting that it would reduce global shipping costs and help stabilize prices. After meeting officials from energy, insurance, and shipping sectors, he assured that the government is taking all possible measures to mitigate the impact of inflation.
Key measures include:
Raising the National Living Wage to £12.71, giving approximately 2.4 million employees an extra £900, and 200,000 young workers up to £1,500 extra.
Cutting electricity bills by an average of £117 annually, effective until June.
Freezing prices of essential medicines to protect consumers.
The government’s package aims to ease financial burdens on citizens while stabilizing the economy amid global uncertainties.
