Spin WAM-1 Well Begins Gas Production in Waziristan, Boosting Pakistan’s Energy Security
In a positive development for Pakistan’s energy sector, gas and condensate production has commenced from the Spin WAM-1 well in the Waziristan Block.
The project was inaugurated by Ali Pervaiz Malik, while Mari Energies stated that the discovery will strengthen Pakistan’s energy security. Initial production from Spin WAM-1 is estimated at 40 MMscfd (million standard cubic feet per day) of gas.
Overall gas supply from the Waziristan Block has now reached approximately 100 MMscfd. Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik praised the sacrifices of law enforcement agencies for ensuring the project’s successful completion.
Mari Energies added that both Shiva-1 and Spin WAM-1 have been connected to the national gas grid. The development of local hydrocarbon resources is expected to reduce dependence on imported fuel.
The project is a joint venture between Mari Energies”], OGDCL, and Orient Petroleum. Mari Energies also indicated plans for further exploration and production projects in Waziristan.
