NA-256 Candidate Shafiq-ur-Rehman Mengal Alleges Massive Corruption, Pledges Reforms in Khuzdar

Khuzdar, Balochistan: Mir Shafiq-ur-Rehman Mengal, a candidate in the NA-256 by-election, delivered a fiery speech at a large public gathering in Khalq Jhalawan, leveling serious allegations against political opponents and outlining his development agenda.

Mengal claimed that “foreign agents and vested interests” had deliberately kept regions like Wadh, Aranji, and Sarona underdeveloped, while areas linked to Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri—such as Karakh and Moola—had progressed significantly in education. He asserted that even two former chief ministers from Wadh could not match the development achieved during Zehri’s tenure.

In a major allegation, Mengal claimed that during the governments of Imran Khan and Quddus Bizenjo, around Rs 37 billion were misappropriated and allegedly used to fund militant activities, resulting in loss of innocent lives. He accused political rivals of misleading the public with repeated slogans since 2002 without delivering basic services such as gas supply to Khuzdar, while nearby regions like Kalat received such सुविधाएँ.

Presenting his election manifesto, Mengal said his top priority would be education, followed by healthcare, highlighting reports that maternal mortality rates in Khuzdar are among the highest. He also emphasized the need for lasting peace, employment opportunities, restoration of public dignity, and provision of gas and internet services in the region.

Concluding his speech, Mengal paid tribute to Nawab Sanaullah Zehri for his contributions to education and peace, citing the establishment of Sikandar University as a major milestone and acknowledging sacrifices made for stability in the region.
