Qatar Warns Gulf States to Reassess Defense Amid US-Iran Tensions

Doha: Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Dr. Majid bin Mohammed Al-Ansari, issued a striking statement regarding the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran, highlighting serious concerns over the Gulf region’s security framework.
Dr. Al-Ansari said the current tensions have significantly strained the Gulf’s defense systems, urging all Gulf countries to reassess and strengthen their military preparedness. He noted that the U.S. has made military decisions based on its own assessments, while Qatar is working closely with American officials to prevent any attacks on its territory.
He emphasized that Qatar reserves the right to respond decisively to any assault on sensitive installations. Although normal operations and offices have reopened following security assessments, Qatari officials cautioned that the absence of an alert does not mean the threat has passed. The evolving situation, they stressed, demands a new and more robust regional defense agreement.
