Government Cancels Pakistan Day Parade, Opts for Simple Ceremonies on March 23

Islamabad: The government has decided not to hold the traditional military parade and other major events on Pakistan Day this year, opting instead for simple and dignified ceremonies.
According to reports, the decision has been taken in light of the ongoing global oil crisis and the government’s austerity drive. As a result, the Pakistan Day parade scheduled for March 23, 2026, along with all associated large-scale events, will not take place.
Officials stated that the day will still be observed with respect and national pride through modest flag-hoisting ceremonies. The move aims to balance the nation’s commitment to the ideals of Pakistan Day with the need to maintain broader cost-cutting measures.
All ministries, divisions, and government departments have been directed to mark the occasion in a simple yet dignified manner, ensuring that the significance and message of the day remain intact despite limited celebrations.
