Indian Actress Jaswir Kaur Says She Faced Severe Financial Hardship After Being Forced Out of TV Show ‘CID’

MUMBAI — Indian television actress Jaswir Kaur has revealed that she faced serious financial difficulties after being allegedly forced to leave the popular crime series CID.

Kaur, known for her roles in Anupamaa, CID, and Ganga, shared her experience during a recent YouTube podcast. The 48-year-old actress claimed that the show’s owners compelled her to quit the series, which led to seven years of severe financial struggles.

According to Kaur, she had been shooting for the show continuously for two years without a single day off. She said she was suddenly called to the office and told to leave the show. “I was accused of having a bad attitude and even told that I did not walk properly,” she said, adding that the allegations left her shocked and emotional.

The actress also stated that after her departure, none of her co-actors contacted her or spoke up in her support. She said the situation deeply affected her mental health and that she remained in depression for nearly three months.

Kaur further revealed that she went through extreme financial hardship during that period. She said she had bought a house but struggled to pay the installments and sometimes had only 100 Indian rupees with her while needing to pay 800 rupees in taxes. At times, she even had to sleep on the floor due to lack of resources.

The actress also claimed she believed she had been a victim of black magic, saying a fortune teller told her that someone had cut her hair and buried it in soil.

Jaswir Kaur played the role of Inspector Kajal in CID from 2010 to 2012. The long-running crime drama featured actors including Shivaji Satam, Aditya Srivastava, Dayanand Shetty, and Narendra Gupta.

Kaur began her career with the 1998 Bollywood film Soldier and later appeared in several films including Baadshah, Taal, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, Badal, and Mohabbatein. She made her television debut in 2004 with the drama K Street Pali Hill.
