Shawwal Moon Unlikely to Be Sighted on March 19, Says SUPARCO

Karachi — Pakistan’s national space agency SUPARCO has stated that the moon of Eid al-Fitr is unlikely to be sighted on March 19.
According to SUPARCO, the Shawwal moon will be born at 6:23 AM on March 19, and by sunset its age will be approximately 12 hours and 41 minutes, making visibility chances quite low.
The agency said that due to the low probability of moon sighting, Ramadan is likely to complete 30 days this year, and Eid al-Fitr is expected to fall on March 21.
SUPARCO clarified that the final announcement regarding the moon sighting will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Meanwhile, the committee has scheduled a meeting on March 19 in Islamabad, which will be chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad. Scholars from various schools of thought, along with representatives from the Pakistan Meteorological Department and other relevant institutions, will attend the meeting.
