Karachi to Move Bus Terminals Out of City and Launch Free Shuttle Service
Karachi: The Sindh government has announced plans to relocate bus terminals from Karachi and provide free shuttle services for passengers. The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, who instructed that the terminals be moved out of the city on a priority basis.
Minister Memon stated that a free shuttle service will commence from August 14 to transport passengers from the old bus terminals to the new ones. This initiative is aimed at reducing the congestion caused by heavy vehicles in Karachi and alleviating pressure on city roads. The new bus terminals will feature enhanced modern facilities for passenger comfort.
The shuttle service will operate from key locations including Cantonment Station, Saghir Shaheed Road, M.A. Jinnah Road, and Al-Karam Square, ensuring that passengers can access the new terminals free of charge.
Memon emphasized the need to avoid any inconvenience for Karachi’s residents and travelers while considering the interests of all stakeholders. Measures will be taken to ensure that transport operators are not negatively impacted and that passengers receive necessary relief. Additionally, a police checkpoint will be established at the Karachi Bus Terminal to ensure passenger safety.
The meeting was attended by Secretary of Transport Asad Zaman, Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi, Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho, DIG Traffic Ahmed Nawaz Cheema, and other officials.
