Ancient Roman Site, Nearly 2,000 Years Old, Unearthed During Construction in Germany

**Islamabad:** Archaeologists and construction workers in Germany have accidentally discovered an almost 2,000-year-old Roman site during the development of a new museum building, marking a significant find for historians and researchers of antiquity.

Initial investigations indicate that the site dates back to the first century AD, during Roman rule, offering valuable insights into Roman lifestyle, architectural structures, and religious practices. Excavated artifacts include an ancient altar, the foundations of a large building, and a stone staircase, which experts suggest may have connected the local governor’s residence to the Rhine River.

Preliminary excavations indicate that the site served not only as a residential area but also held administrative and religious significance. Construction work has been temporarily halted to allow detailed archaeological study and the preservation of artifacts.

Experts note that this discovery not only opens a new chapter in Germany’s history but also contributes significantly to the understanding of Roman civilization and its influence in the region.
