Balochistan Assembly Unanimously Passes Resolution to Increase Provincial and National Assembly Seats

**Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta)** – The Balochistan Assembly on Friday unanimously passed a resolution seeking an increase in the number of seats for both the Provincial Assembly and the National Assembly.
The session, chaired by Speaker Captain (R) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, witnessed the presentation of the resolution by Member of Provincial Assembly Asghar Ali Tareen.
The resolution stated that Balochistan, being the largest province of Pakistan in terms of area and rich in natural resources, continues to face backwardness and underdevelopment. Therefore, an increase in its representation is essential to ensure fair political participation and effective advocacy of the province’s rights.
It recommended that the number of seats in the Balochistan Provincial Assembly be increased from 65 to 85, while the province’s representation in the National Assembly be raised to 28 seats.
During the session, Provincial Minister Zahoor Ahmed Buledi, Opposition Leader Younas Aziz Zehri, Zamrak Khan Achakzai, and other members expressed their views, emphasizing that the move would strengthen public representation and enable more effective advocacy of Balochistan’s rights at the federal level.
After detailed discussion, the House unanimously approved the resolution and recommended that the matter be taken up with the federal government for further action.
