Virginia Woman Found Dead in Freezer; Husband Flees to Hong Kong

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) – In Norfolk, Virginia, the body of a woman was discovered inside a freezer, while her husband and prime suspect, David Varela, has fled to Hong Kong.
Police reported that 39-year-old Lina’s body was found on February 5 in the freezer of the apartment she shared with her husband, who is a U.S. Navy personnel. Her family had filed a missing person report on January 16 after losing contact with her. A post-mortem confirmed the death as a homicide.
Authorities have filed first-degree murder and concealment of a body charges against David Varela. Investigations revealed that he stopped responding to calls from his military command around February 5, which was unusual for him. Evidence, including WhatsApp location data, shows that his phone was later active in Hong Kong, indicating his escape from the U.S.
Family members stated that Varela misled them, claiming Lina had been arrested for shoplifting and even sent a photo purportedly showing her in jail.
The case has drawn international attention, with U.S. authorities taking steps to extradite the suspect while police continue their investigation to uncover all evidence and motives behind the killing.
