Ramadan Crescent Sighted in Bangladesh; First Fast on February 19

Dhaka: The crescent moon marking the beginning of Ramadan has been sighted in Bangladesh, and the first fast will be observed on Thursday, February 19.

Authorities confirmed the moon sighting after receiving verified reports, officially announcing the start of the holy month across the country.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and several other Arab and Gulf countries began observing the first fast today following the earlier sighting of the Ramadan crescent.

After the official announcement in Saudi Arabia, the first Taraweeh prayers of Ramadan were offered at the Grand Mosque in Mecca, where millions of worshippers gathered in a spiritually uplifting atmosphere to mark the beginning of the sacred month.
