Sri Lankan President Thanks PM Shehbaz Sharif for Ensuring Pakistan-India Match in T20 World Cup

Colombo:Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif for allowing the Pakistan-India match to go ahead in the ICC T20 World Cup.
Following a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Sri Lankan President shared a message on social media, stating that PM Shehbaz played a key role in ensuring the much-anticipated Pakistan-India match. He thanked the Pakistani premier for supporting the continuation of the game loved by millions across the region.
President Anura Kumara also expressed satisfaction that the Pakistan-India match, scheduled to be held in Colombo, will take place as planned.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Anura Kumara held a telephonic discussion during which the Sri Lankan President requested Pakistan’s consent to play the match against India. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the sentiments and recalled that Sri Lanka stood by Pakistan during difficult times and helped keep cricket alive in the country.
The Prime Minister assured the Sri Lankan President that he would be informed of the final decision after due consultations regarding the Pakistan-India match.
