Punjab Government Offers 10% Discount on Vehicle Token Tax via ePay

Lahore: The Punjab Government has announced a significant offer for vehicle owners: a 10% discount on vehicle token tax when paid through the ePay Punjab app. This initiative aims to streamline the tax payment process and provide convenience to vehicle owners.
The ePay Punjab app is a valuable tool that allows users to pay various taxes and fees online, eliminating the need to stand in long queues at government offices. By using this app, vehicle owners can quickly and efficiently pay their token tax from their smartphones.
The 10% discount is available until September 30, 2024, so vehicle owners are encouraged to take advantage of this offer soon.
New Token Tax Policy
In the Financial Budget 2024-25, the provincial government has introduced a new token tax policy. Under this policy:
For vehicles with engine capacities up to 1000 cc, the new owner must pay the full token tax again upon transfer of ownership.
Annual token tax will now be based on the vehicle’s invoice value rather than engine capacity. Specifically:
For vehicles between 1000 cc and 2000 cc, the annual tax will be 0.2% of the invoice value.
For vehicles over 2000 cc, the annual tax will be 0.3% of the invoice value.
Lifetime Token Tax
Additionally, the lifetime token tax for vehicles up to 1000 cc has been increased from PKR 15,000 to PKR 20,000. If the ownership of a 1000 cc vehicle is transferred, the new owner will need to pay the lifetime token tax. However, if the transfer occurs within 10 years, a 10% annual discount will be applied. No lifetime token tax will be charged if the transfer occurs after 10 years.
