Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority to Become Regional Centre of Excellence, Says Prime Minister

Lahore: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the use of modern technology to ensure transparency remains a top priority of the government, adding that the Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority (PAFDA) will be developed into a centre of excellence for the region.
Addressing a ceremony in Lahore, the prime minister said the establishment of the authority is a crucial step toward ensuring food security and maintaining high standards of hygiene. He termed the creation of the Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority a major national service and praised the role of the chief minister in making the initiative a reality.
According to Jang, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for her efforts in establishing a modern, technology-driven institution. He said the creation of a regulatory authority for transparent monitoring of food, agricultural products, and medicines was the need of the hour.
The prime minister noted that a network of forensic laboratories is being set up to provide irrefutable evidence against crimes, adding that the authority will play a key role in food security, nutrition, and eliminating adulteration.
He further said that the efforts of scientists and experts involved in the project are highly commendable, emphasizing that the Punjab Agriculture, Food and Drug Authority has been established not only to serve Punjab but the entire country.
