Decision on Pakistan’s Participation in T20 World Cup to Be Made in Coming Days: PCB Chairman

**Islamabad:** Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said that a final decision regarding Pakistan’s participation in the T20 World Cup will be made in the coming days.

Following his meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the PCB chairman shared a message on social media stating that the final decision on the World Cup will be taken by Friday or next Monday. He described his meeting with the prime minister as “very positive” and said that he briefed him on matters related to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Mohsin Naqvi said the prime minister has directed that all available options should be considered before resolving the issue. However, sources claim that Pakistan has already decided to participate in the T20 World Cup.

During the meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the PCB chairman, several proposals were discussed, including a possible boycott of the T20 World Cup in protest against Bangladesh’s exclusion, refusing to play against India, wearing black armbands during World Cup matches, and dedicating any World Cup victories to Bangladeshi cricket fans.

It is worth noting that after a Bangladeshi player was removed from the Indian Premier League (IPL) on security grounds, the Bangladesh Cricket Board refused to send its team to India, citing serious security concerns. Bangladesh maintained that if the security agencies of a country could not ensure the safety of a single player, they could not guarantee protection for the entire team.

Despite this, the ICC rejected Bangladesh’s stance and replaced the team with Scotland, a move criticized as a “double standard.” Mohsin Naqvi has openly supported Bangladesh’s position, stating that it was based on principles, and reaffirmed that the Pakistan Cricket Board rejects the ICC’s alleged discriminatory policies.
