Police File FIRs Against Baloch Activists and Protesters Following Shutdown Strike and Rallies

Quetta:the Baloch Unity Committee (BYC) has reported that police are filing FIRs against participants of the recent shutdown strike and rallies held in several cities, including Barkhan and Othal, in response to a call from the committee. The protests and sit-ins across Balochistan continue against the violence faced by Baloch Raaji Munch gatherings and convoys.

The BYC’s call led to a complete strike and street protests in Barkhan’s Rakhni area, resulting in FIRs being filed against the demonstrators. In addition, after campaigning, pamphleting, and wall chalking, FIRs have also been lodged against BYC leaders and activists in the Othal zone of Lasbela, aiming to halt political activities related to Baloch Raaji Munch.

The BYC has alleged that Othal police have arrested local leader Qazi Siraaj-ul-Haq, with no further information provided about his current status. Protesters argue that organizing peaceful rallies is a fundamental right, yet they face raids on activists’ homes and subsequent arrests as retaliation.

The committee has demanded the immediate withdrawal of these FIRs and cessation of unwarranted arrests, warning of severe protest actions if their demands are not met.
