Meteorological Department Warns of Severe Heatwave in Pakistan for Next 4 Days

Islamabad:The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning that most of the country’s plains will experience a severe heatwave over the next four days.
According to the PMD, temperatures in Sindh, southern Punjab, and Balochistan are expected to remain 4 to 6 degrees Celsius higher than usual from today through May 24. During this period, central and northern Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to experience temperatures that are 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal.
On the previous day, the highest temperatures recorded in the country were 48°C in Dadu and Jacobabad. Other areas also saw high temperatures, with Larkana, Rohri, and Sibi reaching 46°C, Peshawar at 43°C, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, and Muzaffarabad at 41°C, Islamabad at 39°C, Quetta at 36°C, Karachi at 35°C, and Gilgit at 34°C.
The meteorological department has advised residents to take precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses and stay hydrated during this intense heatwave.
