Hot Coffee in Plastic Cups Releases Thousands of Microplastic Particles, Study Warns

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) – A recent analysis of previous studies has revealed that hot beverages served in plastic cups can release thousands of microplastic particles, posing potential health risks. Researchers found that hot coffee in plastic cups releases far more microplastics compared to cold coffee.

Experts warn that the ingestion of microplastics on a daily basis can lead to hormone imbalances, diabetes, respiratory and reproductive issues, and may even increase the risk of certain types of cancer. Scientists highlighted that disposable plastic cups and utensils are the main source of these tiny particles entering the human body.

It is estimated that around 500 billion disposable plastic cups are used globally each year, raising concerns about the long-term effects of microplastic consumption on human health.
