Gul Plaza Fire: Toy Importer Claims Rs70 Million in Cash Destroyed in Blaze

Karachi: Among the victims of the Gul Plaza fire is a toy importer who has claimed that cash worth Rs70 million was destroyed in the devastating blaze.
Speaking to the media outside the damaged plaza, trader Alauddin Shah said his business receives weekly cash collections that are accumulated on Friday and Saturday nights and are usually deposited on Monday morning.
He said that his office was located in the portion of the building that remained standing after the fire. However, upon entering the premises with the help of rescue teams, he discovered that all the cash and important documents had been completely destroyed.
The trader also claimed that high-value merchandise was reduced to ashes in the fire, along with important household documents.
