Raja Nasir Abbas Appointed Leader of Opposition in Senate, Notification Issued

Islamabad: Senator Raja Nasir Abbas, head of Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen and supported by PTI, has been appointed as the Leader of Opposition in the Senate.

The Senate Secretary, Hafeezullah Sheikh, issued the official notification confirming his appointment.

Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani stated that Raja Nasir Abbas has the support of 22 out of 32 opposition senators. “The authority to declare the Leader of Opposition rests with the Senate Chairman. I hereby declare Senator Nasir Abbas as the Leader of Opposition,” he said.

Chairman Gillani added that the delay in issuing the notification was due to judicial procedures, but the process will now be implemented in accordance with Senate rules.
