Anchorperson Iqrar Ul Hassan Announces New Political Party ‘Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek’

Lahore: Renowned anchorperson Iqrar Ul Hassan Syed has announced the formation of a new political party named Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek, declaring that he will never hold any political, government, or official position.

Addressing a ceremony at the Lahore Press Club, Iqrar Ul Hassan said that the common people of Pakistan would be the true owners of the party. “I swear in the name of Allah and His Prophet that I will never take any political, governmental, or official office,” he stated, adding that he is ready to convince anyone that he will not benefit personally from this movement or any political party formed as a result of it.

He reiterated that he would neither seek nor accept any political or government position, even if insisted upon, emphasizing that his role would remain purely ideological and intellectual.

Earlier, Iqrar Ul Hassan shared a post on social media platform X under the slogan “Tulu-e-Subah-e-Awam” (The Dawn of the People), announcing the launch of a movement for laborers, workers, farmers, and the middle-class youth of Pakistan. He described it as a movement representing street vendors, bus drivers, hawkers, working women traveling for education and employment, struggling fathers pushing broken motorcycles under the scorching sun, night-duty security guards cycling home in freezing cold, and mothers selling their jewelry to pay electricity bills.

In his post, he also declared that if he ever associates himself with any office or personal interest arising from this movement, its political party, or any resulting government, he would accept divine accountability.

It is noteworthy that Iqrar Ul Hassan had announced in late December 2025 that he would launch a new political party and would formally reveal its name on January 15. Addressing young participants, he also spoke about Punjab’s political and development landscape, acknowledging development work carried out by former Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and infrastructure projects completed during Mohsin Naqvi’s tenure as caretaker chief minister.

He said Punjab had generally been fortunate in having leaders who delivered development, including Maryam Nawaz, except for Usman Buzdar. He added that political parties are not private businesses passed on after an individual’s death, but strong institutions meant to serve the people.

Iqrar Ul Hassan further stated that details regarding the party’s structure and registration process would be announced later, stressing that his objective is not to impose personal ideology but to offer solutions to Pakistan’s problems through the establishment of a new political force.
