IED Attacks on Police in Tank and Lakki Marwat Kill 6, Injure 3

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Two separate IED attacks targeted police personnel in Tank and Lakki Marwat, resulting in six fatalities and three injuries, officials reported.
In Tank’s Gomal area, a police armored personnel carrier (APC) was hit by an IED explosion approximately 25 kilometers from Kot Wali. The blast completely destroyed the vehicle. Six police officers were killed, including SHO Ishaq Ahmad Khan (Gomal Police Station), ASI Sher Aslam Khan, driver Abdul Majeed, Arshad Ali, Hazrat Ali, and Ehsan Ullah. Rescue 1122 teams quickly reached the site, transferring the bodies and injured to nearby hospitals.
The second incident occurred in Lakki Marwat, near Darra Tang in the jurisdiction of the Saddar police station. An IED explosion injured SHO Razaq Khan and two other police personnel. Officials stated that the explosive device was placed near the Darra Tang bridge. At the time, the District Police Officer (DPO) of Lakki Marwat was on rounds and was expected to pass through the area. Notably, a lawyer had been abducted by unknown armed men at the same location the previous day.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has demanded an immediate report from senior officials on the Tank attack. In a statement, he expressed condolences to the families and colleagues of the fallen officers, praising the bravery of the provincial police. He condemned the attacks as acts of terrorist elements backed by India, vowing that such incidents will not weaken the morale of law enforcement. He also urged the provincial government to take practical measures to ensure public safety and maintain peace in the region.
