Pakistan, Indonesia Pledge to Boost Trade, Agree on Key Joint Committee

Islamabad: Pakistan and Indonesia have agreed to establish a Joint Trade Committee (JTC) to enhance bilateral trade and strengthen institutional cooperation between the two countries.
Both nations emphasized increasing two-way trade and improving collaboration on economic and commercial matters. High-level talks, led by Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Trade, were described as successful. The formation of the JTC will allow regular consultations on trade issues and opportunities.
Pakistan announced the organization of a Single-Country Exhibition and Business Forum in Jakarta, while Indonesia expressed strong interest in supplying Pakistani minerals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and agricultural products.
Both countries agreed to expand the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) and move towards a Comprehensive Economic Partnership, enhancing economic cooperation. Indonesia assured Pakistan of better market access for Pakistani fruits, rice, and industrial potatoes.
Federal Minister Jam Kamal highlighted palm oil as an essential component of Pakistan’s food requirements. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to increase bilateral trade, which currently exceeds $4 billion.
