21-Year-Old Female Student Attempts Suicide at Private University; Major Revelations Emerge in Investigation

Lahore: Significant revelations have emerged during the investigation into the attempted suicide of a 21-year-old female student at a private university in Lahore.
According to police, Fatima, a D-Pharm student, attempted to take her own life by jumping from the second floor of a university building on Tuesday. She was first shifted to the university hospital and later referred to the General Hospital, where she remains under treatment in critical condition. Doctors report that she has sustained serious injuries to her spine and lungs, due to which her statement could not yet be recorded.
A few days earlier, another D-Pharm student at the same university had died after jumping from the fourth floor of a building, raising serious concerns about student well-being.
Police stated that the victim’s family has not yet submitted any application for legal action. As part of the investigation, statements of family members are being recorded, and CCTV footage from the university and surrounding areas has been taken into custody to determine the sequence of events.
Preliminary findings suggest that Fatima arrived at the university at 7:58 am but did not attend her class. Investigators revealed that she remained on a phone call for about 27 minutes before jumping from the second floor at around 8:30 am. Police further disclosed that the last call made before the incident was deleted from her mobile phone.
During the investigation, it was also learned that Fatima had been provided with a new mobile phone by her brothers just a day before the incident, as her old phone had malfunctioned. Detailed statements of her brothers are currently being recorded.
Police said that Fatima had recently scored 18 out of 35 marks in a university test and had expressed dissatisfaction over her results to her father and brothers. While initial inquiries indicate the matter may be of a domestic nature, authorities emphasized that all evidence and statements are being examined carefully.
Police officials stated that further investigation is underway and the final cause behind the suicide attempt will be determined once the student’s statement is recorded and all facts are reviewed.
